We partnered with the Microsoft Store in Durham to donate three Xbox One mobile video game carts to the Ronald McDonald House of Durham and Wake (RMH). The donation was followed by a night of gaming and fun with the families currently residing at the house. Prior to the donation, we raised over $4,000 for the RMH charity via an all-day Twitch stream.

The Ronald McDonald House of Durham & Wake offers a comforting home away from home and a community of support for seriously ill children and their families. The RMH supports the families of ALL pediatric patients at Duke and WakeMed Children’s Hospitals, bringing the comforts of home to the pediatric floor so families can stay close when it matters most. The gaming carts will be used for the families who often spend long hours patiently waiting on their children at the hospital.

Oie Osterkamp, Executive Director at the RMH, stated: “In addition to welcoming families with a welcoming home, warm meals, and emotional support, Ronald McDonald House offers sick children the gift of time and space to simply be kids.  Red Storm understands that sick children are children first.  Red Storm’s donation of creative and genius play stations and the funds raised through the streaming event will not only keep families close to life-saving medical treatment, but also embrace children where they are – as kids.  We are enormously grateful!”

The mobile video game cart donation and fundraising stream is a part of Ubisoft’s Play for Good Global Charity Program. This program is aimed to bring gaming and its benefits to those who need it most. Gaming gives one perseverance, self-esteem, recognition, laughter, and joy. It creates unforgettable memories and brings people together. Thus, it is an extraordinary way to relieve pain, foster inclusion, social bonding, and encourages self-development.
